This weekend had good things but a lot of the weekend was filled with accidents; one thing after another! The weather for once was amazing on a holiday weekend. The lake was not as full of boats as I thought it would be and we were able to have good tube rides, ski rides, and surfing!
We were able to head out Friday morning and after stopping for gas, ice and last minute groceries made it to camp around 12 or 1. Since it was just Chris and I with my cousin and her family we headed out on their boat until our friends showed up. The water was nice and warm and the sun was hot and bright! We took the girls on a tube ride and Chris and Abe were able to tube. We got back to camp just in time for Broc and Breille to get there. While we were showing them how to turn the couch into their bed, Brody decided to be curious and stick his head in the couch… we didn’t notice till it was too late! He accidentally got his head smashed in the couch. Poor little guy! He was fine, and more scared than hurt. This was the first accident. Later we decided to make a quick trip on the water to watch the sun set, so Chris, Broc, Breille and I headed out. Chris was wearing Abe’s cowboy hat that he has had since he was about 11, he rodeo for years with this hat, got married in this hat and let’s just say the hat was irreplaceable. While heading back after sunset, there was a gust of wind and off came the hat! In the lake it went! It was completely dark and we tried so hard to find the hat but after about 20 minutes of looking through black water… we had to give up. Chris was really upset to say the least and was terrified of how Abe would react once we got back to camp and told him. When we finally loaded the boat “in the dark” and got back to camp Abe and his family were asleep, so we couldn’t tell them tell morning. Chris was upset and wasn’t able to sleep that great that night. Then to end the night, Chris had just replaced some lock type things on the closet doors in the motorhome and I accidental broke one off… so that was the end of the first day… we should have packed up and tried again another day.
Saturday we woke up and met some of Breilles friends for a morning/noonish boat ride… on the way to find good water, a towel flew out of the boat and sunk so fast, another accident. Later that day came the worst accident.... we had taken brody and Tink with us on a short boat ride. On the way back to camp Chris and I were standing on the back of the truck and both kids were in the boat… somehow Tink fell/jumped from the boat. Chris jumped off the truck after her as I yelled to stop the truck! When I looked back I saw Tink rolling down the road. I thought for sure we had run her over with the boat trailer. Once the truck had stopped and I ran to Chris and Tink she was bleeding from the mouth and sitting on the road not walking… I was hysterical… this is as close to a kid as I may ever get… this is my baby! We were able to get her walking and took her to the bathrooms to clean her up. She missed the tires of the boat trailer by about 2 inches “no exaggeration” … she must have landed right on her face and her tooth was knocked lose which caused the blood. Amazingly she is fine! She is walking and running and dancing on her back legs like nothing is wrong… this dog has some pretty good angles watching over her! The next and last day at the lake we were ready for some good fun with no accidents… the water was glass so everyone wanted to ski. Broc was putting on the ski when the boot on the ski broke! We were done! After a couple good ski rides for Broc, Chris and Richard we decided to cut the trip short and head home on Sunday. Even though we planned to stay till Monday we had had enough and needed to leave before something worse might happen!
The weekend was good and we had a lot of fun and got a lot of sun! but Tink is no longer welcome on the boat and we are going to be fixing a lot before heading back out for boating/camping! Hopefully next trip will be less eventful! Happy 24th of July everyone! Hope yours was less tragic than mine!
