BABYMOON

Babymoon

In January we took a cruise down to the Caribbean. I called this our babymoon as this would probably be one of the last times we were able to be just us, soon we will be a family. We had gone to the Caribbean before we were married and could never stop thinking about the water and the beauty of the Caribbean. Because of the baby coming I didn’t want to take too much time off work because I want to save all my time possible to use when baby H gets here. We decided to fly in the same day we would be cruising out and also fly home the same day we doc. We have never done this before and now we understand why. The cruise was leaving out of New Orleans. We have never been there and should have known we would want to stay. It was right before Mardi Gras so the streets and everything was decorated and festive! But back to our flights…. THEY. WERE. HORRIBLE. the flight from SLC almost took off before schedule, we ended up getting delay in Dallas after running to find our terminal only to find the plane very small and very crowed complete with screaming baby on board. I tried to be happy but it was hot and crowded and I was starving, Chris was so cranky and stressed we were going to miss our boat and whole vacation for that matter and happy just wasn’t happening. We finally took off and landed safely in New Orleans, grabbed a cab and headed for the ship!

Once on board the ship we were much happier people and we were ready for our fun vacation to begin. We had 3 different stops on the cruise and a total of 4 days on the ship. We love cruises because in our opinion you get the best of both worlds, you get to relax and be lazy while at sea and then you get to go full throttle once on the islands!  Our first stop was, The Cayman Island we went snorkeling and also met a couple around our age which hardly ever happens on cruises. We snorkeled and rode around on this tiny little boat in the huge ocean!  I got a little sick but nothing too bad. We went and had lunch with the couple we met and ended up just walking around and looking at the city the rest of the day. I really need to be better at taking pictures, this is the only picture we have from this day.

The next day we went to, Cozmel. we decided we wanted to swim with stingrays, well, decided and was pretty much left with this. Being pregnant you can’t do a lot of the exciting excursion we usually do, but it was still really fun to swim with stingrays. The boat ride was about 20 min and then we were in the middle of the ocean at this big sand bar where we could stand up and the water was so clear! We also met another couple close to our age on this excursion which was a lot of fun too.

The last stop was in Jamaica. Again being pregnant you can’t do a whole lot of the fun adventurous things, but I still wanted Chris to have fun, so we went to this waterfall that you could hike up, I was able to walk along the side of the waterfall and take pictures while Chris got to climb right up the waterfall. It was still a lot of fun to watch him, but I really wish I could have gone too! But keeping this baby safe was more important. While Chris was getting ready, I talked to a Jamaican man on the beach who insisted we were going to be having girl! I had thought we were having a girl from day one, but everyone around me said boy and Chris wanted a boy so bad that I secretly wanted a boy too. Either way it didn’t matter to us because we really just wanted a happy healthy baby.

After 3 very fun exciting days at the different islands, it was back on ship and time to head home. The time on the ship was filled with naps, lounging on the deck reading, fun shows every night, and dinner in the dining room every night! Having someone cook and clean for you was the best! The food was great and I really enjoyed the desserts every night! It was fun to get dressed up and have dinner. I love the alone time we got to have and hopefully we will still be able to do dinner every now and then. This was the view from our deck every night on the way home!  It was amazing and the best to sit out there and watch the sun set.

We got back to New Orleans early in the morning and this brigde was so neat!We had a few hours to kill before our flight back to Utah. So we walked around the town and got a little taste of the parties that were about to take place. We wished so much that we would have stayed either before or after the cruise because New Orleans is such a cool place! I’m sure we will be back some day!

To top off our trip we ended up getting stuck in Denver on the way back because again, lovely UNITED AIRLINES, was not flying into SLC because of weather, every other airline was still going in and our family in SL said it wasn’t snowing or anything. I HATE UNITED. So we got to stay and pay for a hotel in Denver and then flew home first thing the next day. AND as a cherry on top of our wonderful flight experience already…. They lost our luggage!  So to sum up our trip, we had a GREAT time once on board, we will NEVER fly in or out the same day the cruise leaves or docks, and we will NEVER EVER fly with united again!
